MFWORKS: Tools and training for primary school managers and teachers

Support for primary school managers

The work of the senior management team in a primary school of any size seems to have increased exponentially over the past years regardless of the size of school. Headteacher and their SMTs are now expected to be everything from policemen to accountants, social workers to building inspectors with, it seems, at times, the work of education coming a poor second.

Although the tools provided by MFWorks cannot reduce the amount of additional requirements on school managers they can, and do, help provide a simple and clear view of the educational progress and attainment of the children in the school. Tracking tools are available to help determine how pupils are progressing term on term and year on year (including group analysis for EAL, SEN, FSM etc). Analysis tools are available for the end of the EYFS and key stage results. (and by the end of this academic year the Y1 phonics tests)

Training

Preparation to support the inspection process and guidance for class teachers on how to interpret their class data and how to use it to ensure the children in their class make good progress.

Tracking Pupil Progress

Specialist tools for tracking children through the Foundation Stage and then through KS1 and KS2. The tracking tools provide information for progress made through reading, writing and maths. Average point scores are calculated, analysis is shown for different groups of children, (FSM and other vulnerable groups) providing essential information for the new inspection process. SIMs exports are easily imported into the system making it easy to update and manage.

Target Setting

Setting appropriate targets for children is an important part of the teaching and learning process. Using the Value Added (VA) model from Raiseonline the target setting system provides a way of determining appropriate targets in reading, writing, overall English and maths for year 3 to 6.

Support is also provided for setting Y1 and KS1 targets based on each individual child's FSP score and other teacher assessments.

Data Analysis

There is a wealth of data available to school managers and teachers not least RaiseOnline. Tools are available to help analyse end of KS attainment for Foundation, KS1 and KS2. The analyses support schools in their use of ROL providing easy to understand pupil and cohort level analyses.

Surveys and Questionnaires

Schools are required to determine the views of the key groups; Pupils, parents and school staff.
MFWorks has created an online questionnaire system that allows schools to either use the standard Ofsted questions or create their own. The results are displayed in real time as the users complete the survey.
